Riverside Underground Scholars (RUS) Advocacy
Our program actively champions the rights of carceral-impacted students on campus through collaborative efforts with diverse departments. In partnership with housing services, we strive to secure stable, safe, and enjoyable accommodations for our students attending UCR. Moreover, our advocacy extends to the employment realm, where we work tirelessly to eliminate the necessity for background checks for our students seeking on-campus jobs. We believe in creating equitable opportunities for all our students. Additionally, our program collaborates with the Government Relations Office to advocate for positive social change and garner support from local politicians. By engaging in these advocacy efforts, we aim to bring about meaningful transformations that positively impact the experiences and opportunities available to carceral-impacted students at UCR.
